Future Trends in Rotor Blade Manufacturing

10 Years of Wind Turbine Rotor Blade Research

Fraunhofer IWES at Fraunhofer ENIQ in Berlin

BladeMaker and beyond

Fraunhofer IWES and project partners have been researching industrialized rotor blade manufacturing since 2012. Time for a recap and an outlook of upcoming trends.

Join us for an informative conference with scientific presentations from research and industry.

At Fraunhofer ENIQ we will also present exhibits from 10 years of manufacturing research to trigger discussions and networking.

Meet experts for rotor blade logistics, process technology, materials, digitalization and quality assurance. Boost your knowledge and create new partnerships in the field of rotor blade manufacturing and advanced composite parts.

At Fraunhofer IWES, Niels Ludwig took the position of senior engineer in the department rotor blades, where he works on research rotor blade manufacturing and rotor blade recycling and sustainability.

Lars Windels is an electrical engineer who co-founded SWMS in 1996. As managing director, he deals with the digital process chain of highly specialized manufacturing processes, especially in aircraft and wind turbine construction. He’s also been heavily involved in composites since 2005.

Steffen Czichon is Head of Department Rotor Blades with Fraunhofer IWES since 2017. He focuses on testing of composite materials and structures, material models for composite materials and new Manufacturing process for wind turbine blades.

Kai Ehrich finished the work in the Fraunhofer society after 5 years and a doctoral thesis in the area of FRP product development. Since 2016 he is working for the Nordex SE in the development department for rotor blades with focus on materials. Since 2019 he is responsible as group lead for the materials department
